Defect Report concerning IS 8632:1992 Computer Graphics: Metafile for the storage and transfer of picture description information (CGM) Part 1, Functional

specification.

8

Qualifier (e.g. error, omission, clarification required): Correction

9

References in document (e.g. page, clause, figure and/or table numbers): Part 1 —Clipping of line elements, clause 4.6.1.5 (p.34); Clipping of the marker element, clause 4.6.2.3 (p.35); Line Clipping Mode, clause 5.5.7 (p.157); Marker Clipping Mode, clause 5.5.8 (p.158); Edge Clipping Mode, clause 5.5.9 (p.159); clause 6 (p.228); clause 7 (AM1) T.26.7

10

Nature of defect (complete, concise explanation of the perceived problem):

Resolved Defect Resolution 8631-1/051 is incomplete. It changes the default for the clipping mode elements, but it does not address the handling of clipping mode elements in AM1, the Rules for Profiles.

11

Solution proposed by the submitter (optional):

In CGM:1992-1 AM1:1994, add to T.26.7, after "Meaning of predefined hatch styles", on both the Model Profile and PPF sides of the table:

"In the absence of a LINE/MARKER/TEXT CLIPPING MODE element, the interpreter treatment

of LINE/MARKER/TEXT CLIPPING MODE shall be (check one):

____ In the style of one specific parameter value, from the set of

standardized values. Specify which one:

____ In the style of any of the specific parameter values, from the set

of standardized values."

For the Model Profile, the second choice should be checked. For the PPF, neither side is checked.

Editor's response (any material proposed for processing as a technical corrigendum to, an amendment to, or a commentary on the International Standard or DIS final text is attached separately to this completed report):

Amend the standard as proposed above.
