CGM Open - OASIS
1. What is the significance of the CGM Open - OASIS affiliation?
CGM Open and OASIS have joined forces for the development, adoption, application, and implementation of open standards for technologies dealing with structured information - i.e., CGM, XML, and SGML.
2. How will this work?
The two organizations, CGM Open and OASIS remain separate entities. However, the membership, programs and activities are integrated, thus enabling both organizations to more effectively accomplish common and complementary objectives.
Will CGM Open still support and promote CGM?
Absolutely! With OASIS providing administrative and organizational support, CGM Open can concentrate on CGM, accelerating the program and providing greater awareness within the industry for CGM.
3. Will the CGM Open charter and structure chang?
No changes are anticipated. The program objectives and activities will continue to be developed and directed by CGM Open's Board of Directors and implemented by its officers and staff.
4. Will CGM Open have "a voice " in OASIS direction and activities?
Yes. CGM Open members can be elected to the OASIS Board of Directors (in accordance with OASIS rules). There is a Director/CGM-Open Liaison officer on the OASIS Board of Directors. Additionally, CGM Open members can participate in OASIS activities.
5. Should I join CGM Open or OASIS?
Actually, you can join either organization. The membership levels and fees are the same for both organizations. Enroll now.
6. Does the membership level affect my ability to participate in OASIS and/or CGM Open?
Yes. Yes. Sponsor-level members may join one or more affiliates. Members at the Participant and Contributor levels may join a single affiliate only. All members may additionally be involved in any number of general, non-technology specific committees and activities (of either organization).
7. How many affiliates of OASIS are there??
At this time, only one - CGM Open.
